One really forgets how tied in the Government is to the public when we see a shutting down in our Horizon. Politician can use these methods of shutting down institutions such as the National Parks, and threaten their revenue loss, meanwhile arguing the Republican vs. Democrat ideology in their budgets. Its sad to see that the aftermath really affects everybody.
It does remind me tho, that I always look to Puerto Rico (where im from) as a sort of microcosm of US Politics.  in 2006 Puerto Rico fell into a budget crisis and was forced to shut down.  Other analogous events have made me look at the world through Puerto Rico’s eyes.  As if the tiny island in the Caribbean sea is the testing site for different ideas.
So what happens if Government shuts down because of Budget squabbles?   Click here.

Design the Date

MegE is going through some changes. Moving forward we will be called Design the Date. We’re working on an official website right now.

In the interim, we have a Facebook Page where you can see all the projects. Please visit the page and email me if you’d like to talk about an upcoming project!

Thanks

Meg

From Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

“Mountains should be climbed with as little effort as possible and without desire. The reality of your own nature should determine the speed. If you become restless, speed up. If you become winded, slow down. You climb the mountain in an equilibrium between restlessness and exhaustion. Then, when you’re no longer thinking ahead, each footstep isn’t just a means to an end but a unique event in itself. This leaf has jagged edges. This rock looks loose. From this place the snow is less visible, even though closer. These are things you should notice anyway. To live only for some future goal is shallow. It’s the sides of the mountains which sustain life, not the top. Here’s where things grow.”
